HALLOWEEN IN VILLARROBLEDO

The North American holiday of Halloween is increasingly becoming an important celebration on our calendar.

Halloween means «All Saints’ Eve». Although it’s a spooky holiday, the celebration actually references a Christian holiday: All Saints’ Day, on November 1st, and its continuation with All Souls’ Day, on November 2nd.

Halloween is celebrated in Villarrobledo, but for its residents, All Saints’ Day is more important. That day, we all take flowers to the cemetery and visit our deceased loved ones. However, this doesn’t mean people don’t enjoy the holiday; young people, in particular, enjoy the cultural activities.

One of the most terrifying neighbourhoods is Nueva Villa, where its residents decorate their houses. But instead of boring you with so much information, we’ve included a video where you can see a little bit of the neighbourhood.

Now, we’re going to The Town Square. These streets are full of children with their costumes, doing trick-or-treating or spending the afternoon. Many shops, especially here in the centre, decorate their shop windows. And, above all, exploring the haunted passageway.

Villarrobledo’s Haunted Passageway is organized by the carnival group Los Superbebientes, and this year marks its 4th year, presented with great enthusiasm and the anticipation of the entire city.

What’s it like inside?

Each year is different, but the year we went inside it had some rooms, and some of them were: a room with a person dressed as a statue who tries to scare you, another room where there’s a woman dressed as the Exorcist girl or a clown who follows you with a chainsaw. However, don’t be discouraged, because there are many more rooms.

This passageway is like being in a horror movie. There are as many scares and terrifying characters as you can imagine. You might spend the whole time screaming and running away from the characters, but I assure you that you’ll have a great time with your friends or family.

The Haunted Passageway was held on Graciano Atienza Street, although in previous years it was held at the Culture House or even at the Municipal Library.
